ÀNGELS RIBÉ
12/07/2011 - 26/09/2011 MACBA
The exhibition of the artist Àngels Ribé (1943) centres on works created
mainly in the 1970s, years in which she lived in Paris and the United
States. It also includes works from the late 1960s which are
characterised by being interactive and able to be handled. Ribé worked
around the phenomena of nature and its traces, often experimenting with
the use and manipulation of such materials as water, soap, light,
methacrylate and polyester resin. She also created performances, which
have been documented photographically. The sculptural and volumetric
component has always been present in her work, even when the pieces are
dematerialised. The exhibition also presents a selection of unpublished
drawings made in the early 1980s that show the loss or wear of paint in a
way that the stroke is repeated.
