NADIM VARDAG
Augarten Contemporary
16 September to 28 November 2010
At € 20,000, the BC21 BostonConsulting & BelvedereContemporary Art
Award based on an initiative of Boston Consulting Group, Vienna, in
conjunction with Belvedere, is the highest prize-money of any temporary
art award bestowed by private industry in Austria. Furthermore, the
winner is given the opportunity to realise an individual exhibition in
Augarten Contemporary.
The BC21 Art Award 2009 went to Nadim Vardag, who won over the
high-calibre jury with his films, drawings and installation sculptures.
The artist, who was born in Regensburg in 1980, studied at the academies
of fine arts in Nuremberg and Vienna. He works with installation
scenarios, which are often geared towards the cinema. He assembles film
sequences of just a few seconds to create loops, whose minimal movements
draw a line between apparatus and picture. In general, the complexity
of film, apparatus and effect projected pictures is a central motif for
Vardag’s installation objects.
